Out of the 31 candidates for this year' pageant, an 18-year old Mass Communication student from Quezon City named Koreen Medina was proclaimed winner of the Search for Mutya ng Pilipinas 2013. She bested other 30 candidates representing different places in the country and Filipino communities abroad.
Medina also took home minors awards such as Miss Talent, Miss Sheridan Beach Resort, Miss Lancaster Hotels and Miss Zen Institute. The new Mutya ng Pilipinas will represent the country in the Miss Intercontinental 2013.
Meanwhile, Angeli Dione Gomez of Cebu City bagged the Mutya ng Pilipinas-Tourism title and the representative from the Filipino community in Iceland - Asdis Liza Karlsdottir was proclaimed Mutya ng Pilipinas-Overseas Communities.
Other winners during the Mutya ng Pilipinas 2013 pageant night were Maureen Ann Montagne from the Filipino community of Arizona and Kristian Aubrey Nolasco from Caloocan City who were proclaimed first and second runners up, respectively.
