National Book Store donates school supplies to more than 2,000 students in Sarangani

More than 2,000 elementary pupils in the town of Malapatan in Sarangani Province benefited from National Book Store's "Project Aral" campaign.

The distribution of school supplies happened earlier September 2, 2013 in three of Malapatan town's remotest public elementary schools. The Socsargen Peace Network facilitated the distribution of school supplies together with its volunteers coming from different organizations - the Soccsksargen Bloggers, Social Works students from Cronasia College, HABI Volunteers and a group of motorcycle riders called SHOCK Riders.

Project Aral is a campaign by National Book Store which is aimed at helping poor students in remote areas in the country by giving them school supplies. The school supplies came from customers of National Book Stores nationwide including their branch at SM City General Santos who donated for the project. For a customer's donation of only P25.00, he/she will be able to  donate a kit containing 2 notebooks, a pencil and a sharpener.


A total of 50 boxes of school supplies which is equivalent to 4,142 Project Aral kits were distributed in Malapatan, Sarangani Province. Each Project Aral kit contains 2 notebooks, a pencil and a sharpener. Each pupil beneficiaries of Project Aral of National Book Store received two kits each.

Pupil beneficiaries of Project Aral in Sarangani Province were of the Muslim, Christians and B'laan tribes.
