On January 10- 19, 2014, the town of Midsayap in North Cotabato will be celebrating the Halad Festival 2014, an annual celebration that can be likened to the Sinulog Festival of Cebu, and Dinagyang Festival of Iloilo.
Various activities that will showcase the best of Midsayap and its people are now being prepared for Halad Festival 2014. Some of these includes the opening salvo on January 10, the Halad Festival Run that aims to raise additional donations for typhoon victims in the Visayas, the Fashion to Fame 2014, sports events, a celebrity concert and many more.
There will be invited celebrity guests from Manila to entertain the people of Midsayap and their visitors, among them is the popular band Rocksteddy led by its vocalist and TV host Teddy Corpuz.
Highlight of the weeklong Halad Festival 2014 will be the Indakan sa Kadalanan street dancing competition which will be participated by different contingents coming from different barangays of Midsayap, and its neighboring towns and cities for the open category.
Halad Festival 2014 will also celebrate the 75th year of Sto. Niño Parish in Midsayap. The festival name halad is a Bisayan word which means offering.
