Infrastructure Team Manager (3 Positions)
The Infrastructure Team Manager will be part of the Humanitarian Response Unit (HRU) who is part of the initial team deployed during humanitarian response. He/She will over see all infrastructure projects in Tacloban, Ormoc on Leyte or Estancia in Panay Island to ensure the timely delivery of supplies and services in the most effective, efficient, and professional manner. This will entail the direct support and management of the team of Project Engineers, ancillary staff, and any external consultants. Buildings to repaired and projects to be implemented, but not limited to, are listed specifically School buildings repair, Health buildings repair, Temporary Classrooms (Temporary Learning Spaces) and Temporary tarpaulin repairs.
The Manager will be the focal point for the Infrastructure Team in Tacloban,Ormoc on Leyte or Estancia in Panay Island and will provide coordination internally with Programmes and other departments and externally with other humanitarian organisations, government departments, and communities. The manager will be responsible for providing regular reports and updates.
Qualifications
Essentials:
- Minimum 5 years relevant project management experience;
- Proven ability to effectively manage a team;
- Qualification in structural, civil engineering, architecture or another relevant subject;
- Experience in construction assessments, programme design, project management and evaluation;
- Ability to write clear and well-argued assessment and project reports in English;
- Demonstrated monitoring and evaluation skills; Excellent oral communication skills in English;
- Proven capacity to supervise, train and coach staff;
- Computer literate – Word, Excel, Power Point, Project;
- Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles and Ability and willingness to travel to the project sites
Desirable:
- AutoCAD skills;
- Knowledge of the region;
- Experience of community mobilisation and Experience of and commitment to working through systems of community participation
- Ability to think and act fast;
- High flexibility;
- Strong sense of urgency and work ethic;
- Can tolerate working under ambiguous circumstances and sometimes difficult situations
- Understands and believes in Save the Children’s mission and vision
- commits to its objectives and willing to adopt Save the Children’s methodology and framework
- Preferably a Resident of Northern Iloilo
- Willing to be deployed anywhere with short notice.
