I was glad to have been part of the first Glan Geowalk last July together with members of GBG-Gensan. The activity was aimed at mapping Glan's cultural heritage for business and tourism and in consonance with town's 100th Foundation Anniversary this coming October 2014.
Our group had a quick tour around the Poblacion in
Glan, Sarangani and visited some of its heritage sites including some ancestral houses. Yes, there are a lot of ancestral houses in Glan. The town is one of the oldest towns in Mindanao and is said to be the first Christian settlement in the region. Glan was founded in 1914 by migrants from Visayas and Luzon.
I was so impressed with the designs and structures of the old houses we visited. And I am glad to know that the municipal government have already taken measures to preserve and develop the
ancestral houses to be one of the main attractions in Glan.
