The main thoroughfares of Tacurong City were filled with revelry and culture last Friday, September 18, 2015 as thousands of local and foreign tourists joined Tacurongnons in celebrating the city's 15th Charter Anniversary and the annual Talakudong Festival.
The six groups who joined the Lumbayag sa Dalanon and Kiay-kiay sa Talakudong, the street dancing parade and showdown, never failed to amaze spectators with their quality performances and colorful costumes and props highlighting the traditional head covering of the locals called "kudong" which is also the city's cultural emblem.
"I'm so happy to have witnessed again this year's Talakudong Festival. It has become more colorful and indeed, Tacurongnons are talented people.." said one of the tourists.
Tribu Kudong, consisting of students from VF Griño National High School and representing North Tacurong District wowed the crowd with their colorful attire and energetic performance. The group was declared champion of this year's Talakudong Festival street dancing competition. They also bagged special awards including Best in Musicality, Best in Costume and Best in Field Demonstration. Watch video of their performance below.
Tribu Kadsayap of AS Bernardo National High School, Raja Muda National High School, and South Tacurong District was adjudged 1st Runner-up while last year's big winner - the Tribu Manubiaw of Tacurong Pilot Elementary School settled for 2nd Runner-up in this year's Talakudong Festival street dancing contest.
