Out of the four (4) provinces comprising Region 12 or SOCCSKSARGEN, only the Province of South Cotabato was not included in the list of Top 20 Poorest Provinces in the Philippines.
The list which is part of the report by the Philippine Statistics Authority on the country's official poverty statistics for the first semester of 2015 has Sarangani Province as the 3rd "poorest province" in the Philippines while Sultan Kudarat and Cotabato (North) Province placed 7th and 15th respectively.
According to the report, Sarangani has 61.7 percent poverty incidence while Sultan Kudarat and Cotabato provinces has 56.2% and 48.9%. Poverty incidence is the proportion of people below the poverty line to the total population.
Lanao del Sur and Sulu provinces, both in the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) has the highest poverty incidence in the country according to PSA.
The 20 poorest provinces in the country in the first semester of 2015:
