This was after the Mangudadatus, the province's most influential political family vowed to deliver a landslide win to Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte in his presidential bid in the May 9 elections.
On Friday, May 6, former Sultan Kudarat governor and congressman Pax Mangudadatu met with known Duterte ally and former Sarangani governor Miguel Rene Dominguez where he expressed his full support for Duterte.
"His views for peace in Mindanao is also the views that I espouse thus, I am supporting President Duterte," said Mangudadatu who is running for governor in Sultan Kudarat under AKMA-PTM, a local party which is allied with UNA.
“He can unify both Muslims and Christians in Mindanao which will pave way for that elusive peace." added Mangudadatu.
Sultan Kudarat is composed of 11 municipalities and 1 city and has a voting population of 392,693. Mangudadatu vowed that Duterte will win in the province.
Mangudadatu is running against Liberal Party’s bet, Isulan Mayor Dado Pallasigue.
