Malacañang has declared Tacurong Day on August 3 as a special non-working holiday.
Proclamation No. 22, signed by Executive Secretary Salvador C. Medialdea on Monday, July 25, 2016 was made to mark the celebration of the city's 65th founding anniversary.
It said the holiday was declared to give the residents of Tacurong City the "full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies."

Tacurong City was once a barangay of the Municipality of Buluan of the former empire Province of Cotabato. It was separated from its mother town Buluan and was created a municipality on August 3, 1951.
In September 18, 2000, the municipality of Tacurong was converted into a city through Republic Act No. 8805.
