Congratulations to the provincial government of Sarangani and Barangay Poblacion, Tupi, South Cotabato for being adjudged as one of the 10 winners of the 2012 Galing Pook Award.
The Galing Pook Foundation honored 10 Outstanding Local Governance Programs for 2012 in an awarding ceremony held last March 18, 2013 at the Diosdado Macapagal Hall, Landbank Plaza, Manila.
Secretary of the Interior and Local Government Mar Roxas conferred the Galing Pook Award to the winners which are Dumaguete City, for their Septage Management System; Iloilo City, for their program Community Participation and Collaborative Governance through the Dinagyang Festival; Loboc, Bohol, for their program Realizing Dreams thru Tourism Development; Mandaluyong City, for two programs, namely the Garden of Life Park and Project Therapy, Education and Assimilation of Children with Handicap; Muntinlupa City, for their Implementation of the Bring Your Own Bag/Bayong Ordinance; Brgy. Poblacion in Tupi, South Cotabato for their program Laging Listo ang Barangay Ko; San Jose City, Nueva Ecija for their Farmer Entrepreneurship Program; Sarangani Province, for the program Quality Education for Sarangani Today; and Valenzuela City for their 3S in Public Service Program.
The winners for 2012 Galing Pook Award were selected from 160 entries all over the country, of which 67 are from Luzon, 45 are from the Visayas, and 48 are from Mindanao.
The province of South Cotabato was also among the finalists for the Galing Pook Award 2012 for its Sanitary Landfill project.
