New Israel Eco-Adventure Park

Moncadistas

At least 400 households in Brgy. New Israel are "Moncadistas" or members of the Moncado Alpha and Omega Peace Crusaders Missionaries Inc founded by Maximino Guibernas in the 1950s.
New Israel Eco-Adventure Park

According to our tour guide, Moncadistas also believes in Jesus Christ, but considers Jose Rizal a prophet. These can be observed in stone monuments scattered all over the area with the story and teachings of Jose Rizal.

Monkeys
New Israel Eco-Adventure Park

The tamed Philippine Macaque monkeys are another attraction in New Israel Eco-Adventure Park. They're almost everywhere and are already used to visitors feeding them. For the Moncadistas, these tamed macaques are already part of their community. They also believe that these monkeys are also protecting them.

The 2.3-kilometer zipline which is the main attraction at New Israel Eco-Adventure Park  is now one of the top destinations of Cotabato Province. It is also considered as among the longest ziplines in Asia.

How to get there

The New Israel Eco-Adventure Park is very accessible to all type of land vehicles. Thanks to the newly completed 3 kilometer tourism road project of DOT and DPWH from Brgy. Balantukan to New Israel.

From Koronadal City, take a van to Kidapawan City and ask the driver to drop you off in Makilala town proper. Travel time is about 2 hours.

From Cotabato City, take a van to Davao City or take the Weena Bus and drop off in Makilala town proper. Travel time is also about 2 hours.

From Makilala town proper, take a 20-minute jeep ride to Barangay New Bulatukan. Then enjoy the 15-minute habal-habal ride going to New Israel Eco-Adventure Park.

In the turn-over ceremony held at Bahay Maria, PRO XII Regional Vice-President Dr. Miriam Grace G. Pamonag said the donation included an isolation building, repairs of the residents’ quarters and vehicle “the 1.237M went to this edifice (isolation building) and the vehicle yet to be procured so that their patients, in case of emergency, can be easily brought to the hospital. We are also going to renovate the resident’s building to improve their living conditions.”

The newly-constructed isolation building.
In addition, she said “will also be giving-out groceries that are over and above the 1.237M.”

As record of donation, Bahay Maria Founder and Auxiliary Bishop of Cotabato Most Rev. Jose Colin M. Bagaforo, DD, Chairperson of the Board of Directors Rev. Fr. Benjamin Ariel P. Torreto, DCC and Administrator Jovita C. Isnani, MA received from PRO XII a steel sheet Certificate of Donation.

Isnani shared “this has been our dream because every now and then we have residents with weak lungs and even the hospitals don’t accept them. So we just treat it here, place them in our clinic and isolate them. After treatment, we let them go back to the ward. We have been praying so hard for this isolation and the Lord is so good. Dito ko nakita, the promise of the Lord that He will be our Divine Provider.”

Most Rev. Bagaforo thanked PhilHealth for choosing Bahay Maria as one of the two (2) beneficiaries of PhilHealth Run 2015. “Thank you very much. I am sure by that gesture of yours of partnering with us we will be able to serve better our less fortunate brothers and sisters in Bahay Maria.”

In her message, RVP Pamonag assured Bahay Maria that “the partnership will not end here. I hope that your doors will be opened for us always” and added “after this, we will go to the DSWD because they also have Php1.237M.”

The turn-over was also witnessed by other Bahay Maria Board of Directors, management officers and staff, some benefactors and PRO XII officers and personnel comprising the different PhilHealth Run 2015 Committee and Sub-Committees (Gloria Amor L. Sequito).

“After 11 years, we have finally expanded our Local Health Insurance Office in Kidapawan for better and more accessible services to our increasing clients and stakeholders,” said PhilHealth XII Regional Vice President, Dr. Miriam Grace G. Pamonag during the blessing ceremony on January 8, 2016.

L-R: newly appointed Field Operations Division Chief, Engr. Eugene C. Donatos, Kidapawan City Mayor Joseph A. Evangelista, PhilHealth XII Regional Vice President, Dr. Miriam Grace G. Pamonag and Local Health Insurance Office Head, Ivy E. Monderin
With only ten personnel led by the Service Office Head, Ivy E. Monderin catering an average of 200-250 clients per day, said office started its operation in 2002.

To date, it is already known as the Local Health Insurance Office Head still headed by Monderin with 13 personnel catering an average of 500-600 clients per day.

“With the opening of our office at the ground floor of Apol-J Building here along Quezon Boulevard at the heart of the city, we can already serve more clients and make their visit to our office more convenient and accessible,” Monderin said.

This according to her helps those who are differently-abled, pregnant women and senior citizens at ease in transacting business with PhilHealth.

She thanked the management, the Regional Office and Local Health Insurance Office personnel for the support and recognized the Local Government of Kidapawan for the sustainable implementation of its indigent program since it was launched in 2002 by then Mayor Rodolfo Y. Gantuangco.

Current City Mayor Joseph A. Evangelista said that as a leader, he invests a lot on education and health. “…let us and go down to the basic. . . even our job order workers are now covered with PhiHealth. We also aim that all barangay stations will be PhilHealth accredited. I really want to help you deliver your services down to the barangay level.

To answer questions about Philhealht’s programs and services, Evangelista provided one table in his office and assigned somebody to take charge of that.

He also thanked the Kidapawan personnel for being accommodating and pro-active. “I just encourage you to keep smiling while serving.”

The mayor also challenged PhilHealth to set up CCTV in front of its office for the safety, security and protection of the clients.“Good performance is good politics. Let us not stop serving our clients until we give all our bests,” he said.

RVP Pamonag replied that PhilHealth has already its CCTV and would provide more as requested by the mayor. “it was only 11 years ago when I was also standing here to witness the launching ceremony for the opening of this office. That was when we started the operation with only 11 personnel. After 11 years, here we are again. Expanding, growing, increasing, escalating for our clients’ convenience! … and it’s all because of love. We love our clients, we love our work. We love our county and we love to serve. .. let us welcome the new year with gladness. It took PhilHealth 20 years to be like this. It will take another 20 years before we leave a legacy. Other than empowering ourselves, the best that we can leave is the legacy of NHIP.” she said.

Newly appointed Field Operations Division Chief, Eugene C. Donatos on the other hand said that his message will be taken more from the homily given by Fr. Carlito R. Garcia.

“Israel in Hebrew starts with the smallest alphabet and ends with the biggest!… We are taking a journey. We started 11 years ago and we started small. We hope to grow bigger right now, right here. While we are still somewhere in between, let us take this journey one step at a time. I just encouraged everyone to persevere and continue serving with a mindset that serves our clients first,” he said.

Former Officer In Charge of the Field Operations Division, Lorelie G. Bonilla with other officers from the Region also to witnessed the blessing ceremony. (hanah g. naanep, PRO III)
