Other attractions includes the cable cars, Swing Carousel, the all-time favorite Ferris Wheel and Octopus Rides. There is also the standard carousel, bump cars, Horror Cab and many others.

Entrance ticket is at P10.00 for children and adults, while each ride costs P50.00. See pictures below.

The Local Government Unit of Lutayan, Sultan Kudarat held its first Lutayan Buntis Congress with the theme “ Malusog na Ina, Malusog na Anak,” at Lutayan Gymnasium on August 13, 2014.

“This is the day we had been yearning for in our municipality… to have this congress for the benefit of mothers and children to reduce infant, child and maternal mortality,” Lutayan Municipal Health Officer, Dr. Wiljun O. Pangarintao said.

Doctors were invited to talk about safe motherhood and other related concerns affecting health care needs of pregnant women.

While Dr. Pamela Grace Español-Solano of 24/7 Lying Maternity and Specialty Clinic from the City of Koronadal talked about the importance of maternal and newborn care, breastfeeding, family planning and responsible parenthood; Dr. Aurora Ceres Natividad Fuscablo of Benefits Administration Section-Philhealth12 talked about the availment procedure of said benefits.

“I really want to educate you especially on the dangerous signs and symptoms on the first trimester of your pregnancy. You must understand about the importance of proper nutrition, the knowledge about pregnancy’s do’s and don’t’s and awareness on the significance of health care to prevent maternal and neonatal infection,” Solano said.

Within their first three months of pregnancy, mothers should have proper intake of folic acid for the baby’s brain and spinal cord development, iron for anemia and anti tetanus for infection.

Pregnant women are also required to be honest and cooperative with their midwives or ob-gyne for accurate delivery schedule and for hospital referral whenever necessary.

They should undergo diagnostic and laboratory tests for their health care provider to determine possible infection and check prevalence of hypertension, diabetes and cardiac cases.

They must avoid salty foods, hard liquor, smoking and utilize their prenatal care from Philhealth as needed.

“Being a member of Philhealth means a lot because our maternity care package covers prenatal, natal, post natal and family planning procedures,” Fuscablo said.

Said congress also had information booth on maternal and newborn care package and partner’s booth on local merchandise.

They have likewise availed of free health service delivery such as prenatal check up, hemoglobin determination and oral check up after the orientation.

An exceptional participant received best mommy special award and ten of those who answered questions based from the lectures received baby kit.

In closing, SB Member Ibrahim G. Macasayon encouraged mothers to avail of maternal care services from their Barangay Health station and deliver their babies at the Rural Health Unit.

I was glad to have been part of the first Glan Geowalk last July together with members of GBG-Gensan. The activity was aimed at mapping Glan's cultural heritage for business and tourism and in consonance with town's 100th Foundation Anniversary this coming October 2014.

Our group had a quick tour around the Poblacion in Glan, Sarangani and visited some of its heritage sites including some ancestral houses. Yes, there are a lot of ancestral houses in Glan. The town is one of the oldest towns in Mindanao and is said to be the first Christian settlement in the region. Glan was founded in 1914 by migrants from Visayas and Luzon.

I was so impressed with the designs and structures of the old houses we visited. And I am glad to know that the municipal government have already taken measures to preserve and develop the ancestral houses to be one of the main attractions in Glan.
