List of Senators who voted to oust De Lima as chairperson of the Senate Committee on Justice and Human Rights

Senator Richard "Dick" Gordon is the new chairperson of the Committee on Justice and Human Rights in the senate.

This was after Sen. Leila De Lima was ousted Monday night, September 19, 2016 through a vote of 16-4 favoring the motion raised by Senator Manny Pacquiao to declare the chairmanship and the entire membership of the Committee on Justice and Human Rights vacant.

The 16 senators who voted against De Lima are the following:
  • Senate President Aquilino Pimentel III
  • Senate Majority Floor Leader Vicente Sotto III
  • Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano
  • Sen. Juan Miguel Zubiri
  • Sen. Panfilo Lacson
  • Sen. Cynthia Villar
  • Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian
  • Sen. Gregorio Honasan
  • Sen. Sonny Angara
  • Sen. Joel Villanueva
  • Sen. Richard Gordon
  • Sen. Nancy Binay
  • Sen. Joseph Victor Ejercito
  • Sen. Manny Pacquiao
  • Sen. Loren Legarda
  • Sen. Grace Poe
Only four (4) senators voted to support De Lima to retain her position as the chairperson of the Committee on Justice and Human Rights which investigated the alleged extrajudicial killings in the Duterte administration. They are Senators Franklin Drilon, Risa Hontiveros, Francis Pangilinan and Paolo Benigno Aquino IV.

Senators Antonio Trillanes IV and Ralph Recto, both members of the minority chose to abstain.

6 contingents showcase Tacurong's culture, history in Talakudong Festival street dancing competition

Thousands of Tacurongnons as well as tourists from neighboring places flocked the main streets and the city hall grounds of Tacurong City on Sunday, September 18, 2016 for the culmination of the city's annual Talakudong Festival highlighted by the Lumbayag sa Kadalanon kag Kiay-kiay sa Talakudong or the street dancing and field demonstration competitions.

Six groups or tribes consisting of students and pupils from different schools in Tacurong City participated in the competition namely Tribu Salakot, Tribu Kuyog a Sayap, Tribu Kadsayap, Tribu Kudong, Tribu Silak and Tribu Manubiaw. These contingents showcased in their performances the culture and traditions of the people of Tacurong, the history of their city, and the kudong or the head covering which has become the city's emblem.

The competition were characterized by colorful costumes and kudongs here and there, cheers and loud hoots from the audience, and of course, talented and high-spirited dancers who never failed to entertain everyone present.

Cotabato City mayor passes away

Cotabateños are mourning the loss of a leader.

Cotabato City Mayor Japal Guiani Jr. passed away.
Cotabato City

This was confirmed in a post at the official Facebook Page of the City Government of Cotabato.

"It is with deepest sadness that we inform our fellow Cotabateños that our beloved Mayor Japal J. Guiani, Jr. has passed away this morning.

He was hospitalised in Davao City and early this morning, he experienced cardiac arrest. As of the moment, his remains are still in Davao but the family has assured that he will be transported to Cotabato City anytime today.

Today is indeed a day for mourning for Cotabato City. We request everyone to say a little prayer for our beloved Mayor Jojo."

Mayor Guiani was 56 years old.
