There's another long weekend coming up as Malacañan Palace has declared October 6, 2014, a Monday, as a regular holiday in the Philippines through Proclamation No. 875 for the celebration of Eidul Adha or Feast of Sacrifice.
Eidul Adha (Feast of Sacrifice) is the second most important festival in the Muslim calendar and one of the most important holidays in Islam. It starts after the annual pilgrimage to Mecca or Hajj in Saudi Arabia, by Muslims worldwide.
During Eidul Adha, Muslims go to Mosque for prayers, and give thanks to Allah for all the blessings they have received. Those who can afford it , sacrifice a sheep or a goat as a reminder of Ibrahim's obedience to Allah. They share out the meat among family, friends and the poor, who each get a third share.
