September 17, 2014 is a historic day for the cities of Tacurong and Iloilo, as the two cities formally sealed their twinning relationship.
Tacurong, a fourth-class city in the Province of Sultan Kudarat is a young and vibrant city. It was proclaimed as a chartered city on September 18, 2000.
Just like its neighboring places, Tacurong City has been home to migrant-families from Panay and Iloilo. Majority of Tacurongnons speaks Hiligaynon, the language primarily spoken in Iloilo City.
The signing of the sisterhood agreement between the two cities was held at the LGU-Tacurong Legislative Building right after Tacurong City Mayor Lina Montilla delivered her State of the City Address (SOCA) and during a regular session of the 6th Sangguniang Panlungsod of Tacurong.
Through the MOA, the two cities agreed to jointly explore opportunities on development capability, urban planning, land use, solid waste management, infrastructure and utilities, and economic enterprise. Other areas include investment and tourism, social welfare, gender and youth, and education, sports & cultural affairs.
