Hundreds of climbers are once again expected to join the Mt. Apo Unified Independence Day Climb and Clean-up Drive slated this coming June 10-13, 2015.
Just like last year, the much needed clean-up activity at Mt. Apo will be participated by different LGU's with open trails to the country's highest mountain. These includes Digos City, Sta. Cruz and Bansalan of Davao del Sur, Davao City and Kidapawan City, and the municipalities of Makilala and Magpet in North Cotabato.
The majestic Mt. Apo, being the highest mountain in the country at an estimated height of 10, 311 feet above sea level is also the country's most climbed peak.
Thousands of mountaineers, locals and foreigners climb Mt. Apo every year which can be accessed through seven entry points: Colan Trail in Sta. Cruz, Talomo in Davao City, Balutakay in Bansalan, Kapatagan in Digos City, New Israel in Makilala, Bongolanon Trail in Magpet and Mandarangan Trail in Kidapawan City.
The 2nd Mt. Apo Unified Independence Day Climb and Clean-up Drive is spearheaded by the Mt. Apo Protected Area Management Board (PAMB), DENR Region 11 and Region 12, and co-sponsored by USAID.
